How To: Summer Haircare

My 4 Fave Summer Haircare Products

IGK Summer Haircare Products: Thirsty Girl, Beach Club, Good Behavior, Jet Lag

OK ladies, summer is in full swing and I know you are all out in the sun, in the ocean, in the lake, in the pool, etc. What are you doing to make the most out of that summer hair? Boho braids? Beachwaves? Smooth, sleek locks? Or that tousled, textered, salted hair? Whatever you're doing, let's talk PRODUCTS!

Note: These are ALL available for you at Tangles Salon.

1. Protect: IGK Thirsty Girl Coconut Leave-In Conditioner has you covered! Borrowing from skincare technology, Thirsty Girl features a patented Hyaluronic Acid Technology that forms a rich moisture barrier for deep hydration and protection against hair-damaging pollutants. Pure Coconut Milk smoothes, nourishes, and strengthens hair with every use to prevent breakage and split ends. Hair is smoother, shinier, and frizz-free for up to 24-hours. *In clinical testing, hair had 24-hour frizz control after one use. Thirsty Girl is an aerosol spray so it distributes evenly throughout your hair. In these hot summer months it acts a shield and a cure all, in true coconut oil form!

Pro Tip: Spray in BEFORE & AFTER entering water for maximum protection.

Best for: All hair types

2. Texture: IGK Beach Club Texture Spray. Want that surf-and-sand kind of hair? This breakthrough aerosol delivers that salty, windswept look in seconds without heaviness, stickiness or drying. This is by far my FAVE texture spray of all time! Beach Club is that perfect cocktail of matte gritty texture, but so lightweight you can wear it for days. Plus, the smell alone will make you feel like you're at the beach no matter what!

Pro Tip: Toss your hair upside down and spray UP in the hair from 6 inches away, that way you'll get that salty texture through the mids and ends without over using on the roots.

Best for: All hair types

3. Smooth: IGK Good Behavior is a heat-protective blowout spray that mimics the smooth, frizz-free results of a keratin treatment. Spirulina protein strengthens and nourishes while an innovative formaldehyde free bonding polymer mimics the coating and smoothing properties of a keratin treatment when activated by heat. GoodBehavior also helps to cut down on blow-drying time and helps to protect against humidity, heat and UV damage, leaving hair soft, shiny and frizz-free.

Pro Tip: Apply on damp hair BEFORE blowdrying, then AGAIN before you flat iron for maximum smoothing.

Best for: thick hair, course hair

4. Maintain: IGK Jet Lag Dry Shampoo is an invisible dry shampoo that erases mild dirt and oil with gentle, finely milled volcanic ash, reviving your hair and scalp without leaving it dry or brittle. Gentle enough to refresh styling throughout the day and in between blowouts.

Pro Tip: Spray through roots of CLEAN blown out hair, that way you have a tiny bit of texture, plus the product is there BEFORE you need it. For deeper cleansing levels, see IGK Direct Flight Multi-tasking Dry Shampoo or IGK First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo.

Best for: fine hair, normal hair. For thick, course hair see IGK First Class and Direct Flight dry Shampoo

Here are a few more tips on maintaining healthy summer hair.

Pre and Post Swim Rinse

Chlorine and salt water can literally suck the moisture right out of your hair. Your hair is like a sponge and will soak up whatever's in the water it comes in contact with. So before AND after you take a quick dip, give your hair a quick rinse then coat with your favorite leave-in conditioner (Thirsty Girl).

Avoid Excessive Heat

Girl, I know we love our blow dryers, flat irons, curling irons, wands, or whatever it is that gives your mane that signature look. All I'm asking is to consider cutting back for the summer. Im sure your locks are already receiving more heat and sun exposure due to the nature of the season, so do your best to give it some love by not adding to that.

That being said, I really encourage you to try to wash your hair LESS often. Utilize that dry shampoo (Jet Lag) and experiment with new styles like a trendy pulled out braid, an undone top knot, or a perfect pony.

Happy Happy Summertime to you all! Let me know in the comments below what YOUR favorite summer products are, or feedback if you have used any of the products mentioned above. Cant wait to hear from you!
